On Summer Break: July and August Hope to Return: September DURATION: 1 hour FREE (with option to Support Our Mission*) PRESENTERS: Mary Knysh (USA), Irene Feher (Canada) We invite you to play with us, to drum, to sing and to laugh. Connected online through the Zoom platform, we will create music in the moment. Using techniques developed by members of Music for People, our music improvisation workshops are accessible to everyone; no previous musical experience required! "The Zoom concert was great! I got wonderful feedback and it was so much fun to play at home, in slippers, on my own piano, in front of some 100 tiny people on a screen! I probably would never have done this in a concert hall." Anna B We will meet using Zoom video conferencing. You will receive a link to the webinar when you register. Workshop size is limited to 100 so we recommend that you get online before our starting time to reserve your place. |

Facilitator Biographies
|
Mary Knysh is the founder of Rhythmic Connections, an innovative company advancing education, health, community building, and creative development through drum circles and music improvisation programs that she has developed. Mary is also the primary teacher for the International Music for People organization, as well as an Orff Schulwerk Clinician, and has traveled internationally for over 30 years inspiring participants to tap into healing and human potential through the transformative power of music. As an author, Mary has penned five books on improvisational drumming, which assists and instructs educators, therapists, parents, and anyone interested in music. Mary is endorsed by Remo Drums and Rhythm Band Instruments.

Irene Feher, founder of Living Your Way, completed Music For People’s four-year Musicianship Leadership Program in October 2017 where she worked closely with master facilitators Mary Knysh, Dr. David Rudge, Lynn Miller and James Oshinsky. She is now a on staff with Music for People running satellite workshops in Montreal. In September 2018, Irene launched Music for People’s first regional Musicianship and Leadership Training Program in Montreal. In September 2019, Irene received a generous donation for “Live Your Music at Concordia – Music Health Breaks”, a community music project to help students overcome isolation and anxiety. In February 2018, Irene participated, along with her mentor Mary Knysh, in an intensive 6-day training with Arthur Hull, founder of Village Music Circles. Irene facilitates recreational drum circles for Concordia University’s Multi-Faith & Spirituality Centre.

Clíodhna Ní Aodáin is a professional cellist, conductor, composer, teacher and creative artist. She has studied cello with - Olwen Lewis and Aisling Drury-Byrne in Dublin - Emma Ferrand at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester (BMusRNCM) - Yuli Turovsky at the Université de Montréal (MMus Interprétation) - Susanne Basler at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (Konzertdiplom) - and Masterclasses with Janos Starker, Valentin Berlinsky, and David Darling. Originally from a musical family in Dublin, Ireland, Clíodhna currently lives and works in Bern, Switzerland. She teaches cello at the Musikschule Konservatorium in Bern, and conducts the Orchester Divertimento in Bern. Clíodhna performs as a soloist and chamber musician internationally and loves to explore musical expression through improvisation. Clíodhna is the Artistic Director of Music for People Europe.
