Tubano Drum Making with the University of South Carolina School of Music
As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to grip our nation, and our schools, I would like to thank Dr. Wendy Valerio, professor of music education and Director of the Children's Music Development Center (CMDC) at the University of South Carolina, for having the innovative drive to use my Rhythmic Connections Tubano Drum Kits as a virtual teaching tool for her students in the "MUED 454 Music for Young Children" and "MUED 107 Classroom Instruments" programs.

Each student was provided with a 12" Tubano Drum Kit, which they picked up at school and then assembled at home, via video conferencing with Dr. Valerio.  Special thanks to Alli & Robert who prepared the drum kits for social distancing pick-up. Without their efforts our projects would not have happened!

While the students were decorating their drum heads, they were instructed to write a haiku poem about their drum designs, and then create a video of them sharing the haiku to a rhythmic drum loop!! Thanks to Micaela D and Ryan K for sharing their beautiful artwork and haiku videos.
