Drum Circles Extended:
Facilitator Training
Beyond Beat into Melody, Voice and Movement
About this Facilitator Training:
This "next step" Drum Circle Facilitator Training, features an innovative approach to group facilitation through a unique synthesis of melodic instruments, voice and movement. As a long time teaching artist, performer, Orff Schulwerk conference clinician, Remo Inc and Rhythm Band Instruments endorsee, and international educational author, Mary Knysh is deeply committed to the positive effects of the brain-based experiential learning process.

Mary shares an engaging array of strategies and activities designed to transform your drum circles into an exciting adventure of new possibilities, which include integrated melodic and movement experiences and great ways to tap into group potential. Mary's five-step sequential pathway toward transformation offers tools for expanding self-expression, self -awareness, communication, and inspiration for all.

This Training is Especially Great For:
Drum Circle Facilitators, Music Educators, Classroom Teachers, Music Together Teachers, Occupational and Music Therapists, all levels and genres of musicians, and anyone who loves to create music and wants to explore and expand their own creative potential and facilitate others in the fields of community service, education, and healthcare to do the same!

During this training you will learn an approach to facilitation and music making that will transform the way you, and those you work with experience, explore and create music together!

A typical session looks like this:

WE LISTEN: Tune in and warm up with easy and integrated rhythmic and movement activities

WE CONNECT: Engage in ways to connect and get the group working and thinking together

WE COMMUNICATE: Explore music as a form on non-verbal communication

WE COLLABORATE/CREATE: Lots of experimentation with rhythm, melody and harmony

WE INSPIRE: Expand drum circle possibilities and share our musical improvisations and ideas

WE TRANSFORM: We reflect, observe and learn from our experiences

WE REFLECT/DEBRIEF: We put our new skills into action in our personal and professional lives

Once you facilitate your own drum circles, here are some of the results you'll see on a regular basis.
  • Self-confidence and self-awareness
