School Programs & Residencies

Children are naturally creative, and my school programs are designed to help them explore the power of music through brain-based learning. I collaborate with schools and music educators to deliver engaging experiences for elementary and secondary students, adaptable for groups of 5 to 500.
"She is my #1 'go to collaborator'. I LOVE MARY!
But I'm not alone! She is the best!"

Barry Green, Author of The Inner Game of Music

Explore Music from Around the World

  • Rhythms Around the World ─ Experience music from around the globe, from ancient rhythms to contemporary songs. Students participate in singing, drumming, and instrument play while developing confidence and cultural awareness.
  • Heartbeat of the Americas ─ Explore the music of Native North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean with instruments like cedar flutes, frame drums, steel drums, guitar, and mandolin
  • Caribbean Carnival ─ Celebrate the lively sounds of the islands through percussion, strings, and playful Calypso songs.
  • Land of the Leprechaun ─ Discover the Irish melodies, jigs, and stories with pennywhistle, bodhrán, harp, and more.
  • Medieval Feast ─ Travel back to the Middle Ages with chants, ballads, troubadour songs, and recorder melodies, seeing how these influences persist today.

Hands-On & Creative Experiences

  • Rhythm Village ─ Step into a rhythm circle where everyone participates, regardless of skill. Instruments provided for up to 200 students.
  • "All About Me" Drum Making ─ Children personalize and decorate their own #10-can drum, exploring self-expression through music and art (ages 3-10 with adult supervision).

Artist in Residence

  • Music as a Metaphor for Learning ─ I Model brain-based, arts-infused learning strategies for STEAM courses and beyond.
  • Get Creative ─ Interactive rhythmic and improvisational activities develop problem-solving, team-building, leadership, and nonverbal communication skills while meeting national music standards.
  • Global & Improvisational Learning ─ Experiencing instruments and styles from multiple cultures inspires empathy, self-expression, and musical growth in students and educators alike.
