THINK OUTSIDE THE DRUM....
Here's how my Drum Circle or Music Improvisation sessions lead to better, more creative employees

ICE BREAKERS
First, we try some simple rhythmic language tools and interactive games that break the ice and get participants to explore the creative process collaboratively.

BUILD COMMUNITY
Throughout the session, I work with participants to create a sense of trust, community, and equality.

TEAM BUILDING
As our rhythms and music become more complex, we learn to work together more effectively as a team.

COMMUNICATION
More communication happens through body language and other cues than through words. Drumming and music improvisation encourage various forms of non-verbal communications and self expression, and I work with participants to recognize these openings. The awareness of such nuances helps your employees in everyday office give-and-take.

CREATIVE THINKING/PROBLEM SOLVING
We think out side the drum -- literally.  I invite exploration of rhythm and creative process in a fun, relaxed, and accessible manner.  Once your employees tap into the fun of creativity, it can't help but enhance their creative thinking and problem solving skills.

LEADERSHIP
To be effective, your team needs to share a vision and embrace a common goal. We develop these skills through music, including honoring diversity, learning to read non-verbal communications, and creating an environment that fosters trust and innovation.

TRANSFORMATION
Afterward, we reflect/debrief upon the experience of creative process and make the connections to workplace and personal growth.

"You were absolutely SUPERB. Thank you so very much for giving 1000% of yourself."
Barbara A. Murray, Director of Music
New York City Department of Education

Thanks again Mary for showing us a whole new way to learn more about ourselves through the vehicle of music. I would highly recommend Mary to other organizations looking for an invigorating and eye opening approach to building a stronger team.

The spirit, enthusiasm and talent you brought to our drum circles brought us all closer together. You quickly won over the people in our group who were initially skeptical.
