About the Tubano Drum Making Workshop:
Looking for an engaging and enriching STEAM based project for your school? Rhythmic Connections introduces a brand new line of drum making kits perfectly suited for all ages! These drums are lightweight, durable, great sounding and they even stack inside one another so are perfectly suited for sites with limited storage capacities. (Made from Quik-Tubes.) As a long time teaching artist, performer, Orff Schulwerk clinician, and international educational author, Mary is deeply committed to the positive effects of the brain based experiential learning process. These drum making sessions integrate the essential Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math components featured in the STEAM learning process and offer a cost effective way to bring the joy of rhythm into every learning environment. About the "All About Me" Drum Making Workshop: Designed for Elementary School children, the "All About Me" drum allows the student to express them self through their artwork and music, by decorating the drum head and drum sides and making their own musical instrument. (Made from #10 cans.) Drum Making Workshops are Designed For: Drum Circle Facilitators, Music Educators, Classroom Teachers, Music Together Teachers, Occupational and Music Therapists, and anyone who loves to create music and wants to explore and expand their own creative potential and facilitate others in the fields of community service, education and healthcare to do the same! Do-It-Yourself - Drum Making Kits:
The "All About Me" and the Tubano drums are a fun and easy project for children of all ages to make (adult supervision required). So easy, you can Do It Yourself. Rhythmic Connections offers Drum Kits for the "All About Me" drum, and three sizes of the Tubano drum, which can be purchased through Mary's Marketplace. Tubano Drum Kits: The Tubano drum is a West African skin drum that produces a nice bass sound when played with the hands or mallets. The Rhythmic Connections team has spent the last decade researching different types of materials to develop a Tubano drum that is light, stackable, affordable to make, and will have good tonal quality when played. We have found the key in the Special Drum Head Material used in our kits. I have designed the Tubano Drum Kits to be made with a Quik-Tube® concrete post form, which can be found at your local Home Depot, Lowe's, or home renovation store. Quik-Tubes® are not included in the kits. The tubes come in a 4' length, so you can make two (2) 18" drums from one tube. After much experimentation, I found I prefer Quik-Tube® over Sonotube®. Tubano Drum Making Kits are available in 3 different sizes: 8", 10" and 12" diameter. This is a fun project for kids from 3 to 99! The Drum Head can be decorated with their hand prints, or a portrait of them self or family members, or a theme that interests the child/family. Each Tubano Basic Drum Kit includes: Directions, Special Drum Head Material, (2) two Elastic Drum Hoops, African Print Fabric for Sides, Shipping (within US). Other supplies required for the assembly of drums, which are NOT included with the kits: Quik-Tube®, Permanent markers, Tacky Glue, sponge brush, scissors, plastic cup, white glue, iron, water-based Poly Acrylic, duct tape "All About Me" Drum Kits: The "All About Me" #10 Can Drum allows children the opportunity to express themselves through their music and artwork. Each child can decorate the Drum Head and Drum Side with their hand print, a picture of their face, and topics that personalize their "All About Me" drum. Kits can be assembled over a 2-day period, to allow time for glue to dry. Recommended for children ages 3 to 10, with adult supervision. Each "All About Me" Drum Kit includes: Directions, Special Drum Head Material, (1) one Elastic Drum Hoop, Muslin Fabric for Sides, Shipping (within US). ***** #10 CAN NOT INCLUDED ***** (check the cafeteria at your school; or the hardware store for unused paint cans). Other supplies required for assembly of drums, which are NOT included with the kits: masking tape, permanent markers, Tacky Glue, white glue, plastic cup, sponge brush, scissors, iron, water-based Poly Acrylic, duct tape, optional lentils, split peas, dried beans. |
