The Art of Improvisation
Exploring Spontaneous and Creative Musical Play!
A Music for People Workshop
About this "Music for People" Workshop/Training:
This program focuses upon experiential music making activities that encourage participants to rekindle their own sense of wonder and creativity, which in turn inspires and empowers others that they may facilitate or make music with.  This innovative and creative approach to spontaneous and in the moment music making can offer new musical possibilities and pathways for self-expression, self-awareness, communication, and inspiration for all.  As a long time teaching artist, performer, Orff Schulwerk conference clinician, Remo Inc and Rhythm Band Instruments endorser and international educational author, Mary Knysh is deeply committed to the positive effects of the brain based experiential learning process.

This Workshop/Training is Especially Great For:
Music Educators, Early Childhood Educators, Special Needs Teachers, Drum Circle Facilitators, Music Therapists and Healthcare Professionals.  People of all ages and levels of musical experience are invited to this exploration of music as a means for self discovery, building community and tapping into human potential!

During this workshop/training you will learn an innovative approach to music making that will transform your own music and will inspire you to share this joy of making music with others!

FEATURING ~
Melody - We begin with the simplicity of music that lives within each one of us. Moving from breath to sounding and into the appreciation of one quality sound following another as a means for creating expressive and meaningful story telling through sound, Mary opens up a world of possibility for tapping into one's own music.

Rhythm - Incorporating brain based rhythmic and movement activities designed to develop important mind-body connections, Mary shares sequential activities that guide participants toward the discovery that rhythmic play can be explored in an easy and relaxed manner and is accessible to all!

Harmony - Building upon the fundamentals of music, Mary guides participants toward the development of their own natural and expressive music vocabulary and engages the group in large and small ensembles where harmony is revealed in a fun, engaging and joyful manner.
Music for People's Art of Improvisation workshop is for musicians and vocalists experienced in any musical tradition - classical, jazz, theater, rock, ethnic, avant-garde, etc. All instruments are welcome - acoustic and electric, winds and strings, hand drums and percussion, and homemade innovations. Prior experience in improvisation is not necessary, as this workshop is based on the concept that listening and imitation are the most fundamental musical skills.
