Live Your Music in Montreal
A Music for People Workshop
A Music for People Workshop
Musicians wanting to expand their craft, and experience the joy of community music-making, will enjoy attending "Live Your Music in Montreal", a 1 or 2-day weekend workshop.
Over the last 30+ years members of the American based non-profit organization, Music for People, have been promoting a holistic and humanistic approach to the way music is learned and shared through the art of free improvisation. Music for People's philosophy encourages personal expression, active listening and mindfulness. By returning to the essence of music, silence, tone and pulse, we make free improvisation immediately accessible to any combination of people and instruments, regardless of their level of musical experience and musical-cultural background. The best part is what emerges musically in real time: the ever-evolving music is rich and full of surprises. Activities include guided improvisation in large groups and small ensembles, vocal exploration, drumming, sound bath, and more.
1-DAY (Saturday) - Music for People Experience: Let musical play reignite your sense of wonder, imagination, and child-like curiosity.
2-DAY Intensive (Saturday & Sunday) - Opening the Way for ALL to Play: For those who wish to learn how to facilitate free improvisation, Sunday will feature interactive training and leading labs. A certificate of attendance is included for weekend attendees. NOTE: Those currently in the MLP training program can use this weekend to fulfill their workshop attendance requirements.
A weekend with Music for People is an unforgettable experience that will leave you inspired and energized. Bring your musical instruments, bring your voice, bring your love for music, and discover the powerful potential that creative musical play can have on well-being and community.
Music Educators and Community Music Leaders: Learn innovative and inclusive approaches to facilitate free improvisation in the classroom and beyond.
Music Therapists: Learn new ways to explore personal expression that you can bring to your practice.
Everyone: Learn how mindfulness through music and creativity can deepen your listening, awaken your musical intuition, and kindle (or rekindle) your love of music.
